Every high achiever wants to know how to go faster. Almost none of them ask where they’re already leaking.
You don’t need more output. You need fewer places where the output you already have is quietly draining out.
What a leak actually is
A leak isn’t a crisis. It’s small enough to ignore and constant enough to cost you everything eventually.
Sleep you cut by forty minutes because the evening got away from you. A conversation you’re avoiding that’s taking up more mental space than the conversation itself would. A decision you’ve re-made in your head six times without ever actually deciding.
None of these will end your quarter. All of them are taxing every hour of it.
Why acceleration without leak-fixing fails
You can’t sprint on a system that’s bracing. Bracing is your body’s stress response — muscles tightened, breath shortened, energy diverted to defense instead of output. It happens on stage, in a hard conversation, in a body that’s been “fine” for months.
Push harder on top of that and you’re not accelerating. You’re spending reserves you don’t have, faster.
This is why the high achievers who burn out aren’t usually the ones doing the least. They’re the ones who tried to out-effort a leak instead of finding it.
Where the leaks usually are
Sleep debt disguised as a personality trait — “I just don’t need much sleep.”
Decision fatigue from re-deciding things that were already decided.
Friction in a relationship or team dynamic that’s costing more energy unspoken than it would cost said.
A body that’s been braced so long you’ve stopped noticing the bracing as separate from just being you.
If the decision-fatigue leak sounds familiar, I wrote more on why pressure hijacks good judgment here: Making Decisions While Stressed: Why Good People Make Bad Choices.
The fix isn’t more discipline
It’s fifteen focused minutes finding the specific leak and sealing it — not a life overhaul, not a retreat, not six months of therapy you don’t have time for. A mechanical fix for a mechanical problem.
That’s the entire logic behind 100% Momentum: seven overrides, each one built to close a leak fast, because most high achievers don’t need a new philosophy. They need the friction gone by Thursday. Find yours here: tinaenglisch.academy/100momentum
Before you accelerate
Ask where the leak actually is before you push the accelerator further. Q4 will find every leak you didn’t fix in August — and it will find it at the worst possible time.
